Na Muang Waterfall

The Two Tiers of Na Muang
The name "Na Muang" refers to the massive purple-tinted rocks found at the waterfalls. While they are part of the same river system, they offer very different experiences:
- Na Muang 1: This is the most accessible tier. The water cascades down a high yellow-purple cliff into a large natural pool. It is very popular for families because the pool is safe for swimming and provides a refreshing escape from the tropical heat.
- Na Muang 2: Located further uphill, this tier is more secluded and requires a bit of a hike (about 20–30 minutes) through a jungle path. It is smaller but more peaceful, offering beautiful spots for photography and a great sense of adventure for those who enjoy trekking.
Natural Beauty and Environment
The waterfalls are surrounded by a dense tropical rainforest. As you walk through the area, you’ll be shaded by towering ancient trees and surrounded by the sounds of local wildlife. The contrast between the dark purple rocks and the white frothing water makes it one of the most picturesque spots on the island.
Cultural and Historical
Na Muang Waterfalls have a special place in Thai history. They were once visited by several Thai Kings, including King Rama V and the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). You can still find their initials carved into some of the rocks near the falls, marking their royal visits to this natural wonder.
