YOK KHENG
Selected for the MICHELIN Guide Thailand New Bib Gourmand Selection 2024. Yok Kheng is a historic Thai-Chinese restaurant in Surat Thani’s old town on Talat Mai Road, serving authentic local flavors for over 50–60 years. Passed down through generations, it blends rich heritage with timeless taste. With its vintage wooden tables, open-front kitchen, and lively 1970s atmosphere, Yok Kheng welcomes everyone from officials to students to share the same beloved bowl of noodles.
The Signature Dishes
The restaurant is famous for two specific dishes that you can rarely find elsewhere prepared with such tradition.
The restaurant is famous for two specific dishes that you can rarely find elsewhere prepared with such tradition.
• Loeng Tong : This is the star of the show. It is a clear pork noodle soup that features small rice vermicelli, pork bones, crispy pork skin, and blood tofu.
The broth is light yet deeply flavorful, seasoned with a hint of sweetness and pepper.

• Phak Bung Tai Round : A unique dish consisting of morning glory, noodles, and boiled pork, topped with a savory-sweet peanut-based gravy and crunchy bits. It’s a refreshing contrast to the noodle soup.

Despite the modernization of Surat Thani Yok Kheng has refused to change its recipes or its "no-frills" service style. This consistency has earned it numerous local awards and features in national food guides, solidifying its status as a
"Legend of Surat Thani."
